What is the mode of baptism (sprinkle, pour or immerse)?
  • The Greek word baptizo means “to plunge, dip, immerse” something into the water.
  • The New Testament supports baptism by immersion (Mk. 1:5; 9-11, Jn. 3:23, Acts 8:36-39)
  • Baptism by immersion, which symbolizes union with Christ in His death, burial, and resurrection, is a picture of the spiritual baptism that takes place the moment one becomes a Christian (Rom. 6:1-5).
Who should be baptized?
Only those who give a believable profession of faith should be baptized. This is often referred to as believer’s baptism (Acts 2:41, 8:12, 16:29-34).
Why should anyone seek baptism in the local church?
  • Baptism openly identifies you as a follower of Christ (Jn. 4:1)
  • Baptism openly obeys the command of Christ (Mt. 28:19)
What are the spiritual benefits of baptism?
  • The one being baptized experiences the blessings of God’s favor that comes with obedience.
  • The one’s witnessing the baptism experience great joy over the public confession of the one being baptized.
  • Christians are encouraged to confess Christ all the more and those who don’t know Christ are encouraged to confess Christ for the first time.
