Financial Assistance & Community Resources

At Disciple Central Community Church (DC3), we believe faith looks like love in action. If you’re experiencing hardship, we’re here to support you with financial assistance, food access, and referrals to trusted partners throughout our community.

Food Distribution Program

DC3 hosts community food distributions to help individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.
  • What to expect: Groceries and essential items distributed onsite.
  • When & Where: Events are held at 901 N. Polk St. #101, DeSoto, TX 75115. Check our Events page for current dates and times.
  • Who can receive: Open to our neighbors in need—no church membership required.
  • What to bring: A photo ID and proof of address, if available.
  • Volunteer or Donate: Serve at upcoming distributions or give toward food outreach via our Events page or church office.

Financial Assistance

The DC3 Benevolence Community exists to show God’s compassion by providing temporary, needs-based assistance to eligible applicants in our congregation and local community. Funds are limited each month and application does not guarantee assistance.

Types of Assistance We Offer

  • Utilities: Electricity, water, gas (essential services).
  • Housing: Rent or mortgage for temporary financial distress.
  • Food assistance: Grocery vouchers or food packages.
  • Medical: Urgent medical bills or prescriptions.
  • Funeral assistance: Support for funeral-related expenses.
Up to $500 per request max.

Who Is Eligible

  • Church Members: Active members (generally 6+ months of regular participation).
  • Regular Attendees: Individuals engaged in DC3 life (e.g., groups/ministries).
  • Community Members: At the committee’s discretion, residents within the Dallas–Fort Worth area who meet criteria for need.

Program Guidelines

Utilities: Balance must be for the current month only; prior balances must be paid before applying; no utility assistance received from DC3 within the last 12 months.
Rent/Mortgage: Amount owed must be for the current month only; request cannot be for extreme delinquency; no rent assistance received from DC3 within the last 12 months.
Review timeline:
Applications are reviewed by the Benevolence Committee, typically within 3 days of submission. You’ll be notified in writing of the decision. 
Payment method: When approved, DC3 generally pays landlords/mortgage/utility providers directly and may issue grocery/utility vouchers when appropriate.
Frequency:
Assistance is generally limited to once per year for the same need, unless exceptional circumstances apply.
Confidentiality: We safeguard your personal information and share only as needed to process assistance

How to Apply

  • Complete the form: Submit the Benevolence Request Form.
  • Provide documents: ID, proof of DFW residency, proof of income, and relevant bills/lease as requested.
  • Brief conversation: A team member may schedule a short call/meeting to understand your situation.
  • Committee review: Your request is evaluated based on need and available funds. You’ll receive a decision and next steps. (Please note: Submitting an application does not guarantee approval.)

Community Resource Referrals

If DC3 funds are not available or if other supports may better fit your situation—we’ll connect you with trusted local partners. Examples include:
  • 2-1-1 Texas: Statewide referrals for food, housing, utilities, healthcare, and more.
  • Local food banks/pantries (e.g., DeSoto Food Pantry) and mobile distributions.
  • Rental/utility assistance programs and legal aid/eviction prevention via local agencies.
  • Employment & training, low-cost phone/internet, and healthcare resources.
Note: External partners provide services at their own discretion. DC3 cannot guarantee outcomes and policies may change without notice.

FAQs

Do I need to be a DC3 member?
No. While membership/regular attendance can be part of eligibility, DC3 may assist DFW residents at the committee’s discretion.
Can I receive assistance more than once?
No. Applicants must not have received rental assistance from our organization within the last 18 months to be eligible for additional support.
How long does review take?
The committee typically reviews applications within 3 days of submission.
Will DC3 pay me directly?
When approved, DC3 usually pays providers directly (landlord, utility, etc.) or issues vouchers.
Is my information confidential?
Yes. We maintain privacy and share information only as needed to process assistance.
