voter id requirements

Texas law requires voters who have one of the seven acceptable form of photo IDs, to show it when you vote in person:
  • Texas Drivers License
  • Texas Election ID Certificate
  • Texas Personal ID Card
  • Texas Handgun License
  • U.S. Military ID
  • U.S. Citizenship Certificate (does not expire)
  • U.S. Passport (book or card)

If you’re aged 18-69, the ID should be current or can be expired for up to four years. If you’re 70 or older, your ID can be expired for any length of time but must still be otherwise valid.

PRESIDENTIAL BALLOTS

A presidential Ballot allows a voter to vote only for the offices of U.S. President and Vice President, excluding all other races. This ballot is available to voters who:

  • Were registered to vote in Texas when they moved to another state.
  • Moved from Texas to another state within 30 days of Election Day.
  • Would be eligible to register to vote in Texas if they were still residents.
  • Are not yet eligible to vote in the presidential election in their new state.
